Our Projects.
We strive to promote our mission to the local community. These efforts are directly reflected in their projects, such as the Annual Kids Fishing day, Educational Outreach, and the Public Beach Access Site. All of their projects require funding, which majority is raised through fundraising events, grants, and donations.
Annual Kids Fishing Day
2019 marks the 11th Annual Kids Fishing Day. The event appears to grow each year.
The event welcomes over two hundred participants each year, let alone their parents and all the volunteers that make this day possible. Numerous local businesses donate to help supply a free hot dog lunch as well as prizes while at the event.
Educational Outreach
We enjoy sharing nature and Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery with others, especially children.
We've made great strides in creating opportunities for children from local schools tour the hatchery complex, learn about the Fish & Wildlife Service's mission, and the great outdoors. Through holding coloring and essay contests after they've toured the facilities, we then award rods and reels to some contestants.
Public Beach Access Site
Numerous enhancements have been made at the public beach access site. Pavilion, picnic tables, charcoal grill, kiosk, boardwalk, bridge, bench, and dog waste bags.
Adding the beach site to the Lake Superior Water Trail is currently underway. The site was approved to be a secondary site along the water trail, as the individuals have access to restrooms and potable water. Stay tuned!
